“AddStuff” for PrestaShop

Addstuff will be 1 year old on 5th August 2009!!

Here’s a fun little module that several have used to add some easy custom items to their pages. Inspired by many modules by the same (or similar) names for other open source projects, this allows you to include your own html (or anything else you can think of) into your right or left column easily.

The configuration consists of two items:

  • A filename (default “mystuff.html” in the module directory)
  • A check box to select using the standard box model class (heading is styled with h4)

The example code puts an image and link on your page, so you’ll probably want to change it, but feel free to link back to here from your sites. We appreciate your support!

Latest Version: Addstuff v0.6.3

thanks you for your hard work. I love this module but can’t figure how to add another one – if I need two stuffs to be added one under another. any ideas ?

If they are immediately one after the other, then I would just mark up a single file to simulate two sideboxes.

Excellent, simple yet powerful, just what I was looking for. Works under 1.4.4.0

Worked great on my 1.4. Wondering how to make smarty work. I had smarty tags in my file, but they were treated as text.

    1. Paul Campbell avatar

The only way to add tags unfortunately is to modify the module .tpl file – the content is just plain text/html

Hi, I used it last three month and everything was fine. I changed hoster, module still works but and I get a notice at the header of page:

Notice: Undefined variable: addstuff_code in /usr/local/pem/vhosts/105140/webspace/httpdocs/www_adara/modules/addstuff/addstuff.php on line 147

    What is wrong?

Thanks for the module, it gives my web site flexibility.

I had a problem on usage of this module. IF I use SEF url in my web site, the images in addstuff module positon can not be seen.
If I do not activate SEF url, then it is ok, no problem.

    Any idea and advice ?
Thanks in advance to everbody who helps.
    Best Regards

As mentioned before an excellent module, to help here is a simple bash script to clone the module, making duplicates easy. I am sure there are more elegant methods but it works. Feel free to improve it.

    #!/bin/bash
    # Clone addstuff
    #
    # Use at own risk!
    #
    # usage
    # place script in same folder as addstuff
    # $ chmod +x clone.sh
    # choose a newmodulename that does not exist in your prestashop modules
    # No spaces in modulename
    #
    # $ ./clone.sh newmodulename
    #
    # your default content is newmodulename.html
    #
    cp -r addstuff $1
    cd $1
    sed ‘s/addstuff/’$1’/gi’ addstuff.tpl > $1.tpl
    sed ‘s/addstuff/’$1’/gi’ addstuff.php > $1.php
    sed ‘s/Add Stuff/’$1’/gi’ mystuff.html > $1.html
    rm addstuff.*
    rm mystuff.html
    echo ‘done’

sorry for my poor english. my aim was to put multiple eddstuff on my website. example: 2 on left coloumn 1 on right column. i didnt know how to make it with a single module (couldnt solve out how to edit tpl file accordingly) thats why i cloned the module. renamed the necessary parts. and succeeded to dublicate and use 1 on left coloumn and 1 on right coloumn. but couldnt use two of them on same coloumn. they show side to side (horizontally) i want to show them vertically.

    i hope i could explain.

waiting for your example (how to edit tpl and use a single module for dublicated boxes)

thanks for your time and attention.

    best regards

I’m not sure I understand. There are lots of different ways to use Addstuff — which is why it’s so handy! I suspect that you could do what you want with just a single module, by overriding the tpl file in your theme.

I’ll try and put together an article with examples of different ways you can use it, and hopefully that will explain how to achieve what you want.

  25. foreigner avatar

i dublicated addstuff mdule with different content. but i want to use both on left coloumn. one up and other under it.

but they both stay in same line.

how can i make 2nd one show under the 1st one.

    regards

Can We duplicate the module .. One for the left side and one for the right side but with diferent information.

    Thanks

  27. admin avatar

There’s a hook in there for it in the latest version, so it should work ok. You’ll probably need to edit the tpl file though, so that it just has a generic div instead of the sidebox one. You just need to use the “transplant module” menu and you’re off.

  28. John avatar

I have altered my addstuff module to hook into the footer, so that I can add banners and links etc there, maybe you could code that in as part of the module

  29. admin avatar

In the modules screen there should be a “Positions” option under the main tabs at the top of the page. You should be able to adjust the hook from there.

  30. Scott avatar

How do I move it from the left to the right column

    Hey,

I’m looking for a module that allows admin to add an order. Can you do this?

  32. francis avatar

Very nice module – flexible, easy to follow & use – see the ‘bead fairs’ on the website (still in development! ). Next please – make it easy to ‘clone’ – the module should query the name of the folder it resides in. The PHP should then generate all the variables names change accordingly. You then have a very powerful, simple and replicable (for the end user) module. Thanks

I do not have this problem in production though. I did actually specify the page as mystuff.html and when I add content the page is all distorted, my footer is not centered.

  34. admin avatar

Have you entered a filename in the config screen? The example provided is mystuff.html

It’s possible you’ll get an error until you do.

I still seem to have the following message, although the installation was smoother:

Notice: Undefined variable: code in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/prestashop/modules/addstuff/addstuff.php on line 129

  36. admin avatar

I’ve updated the module to 0.5 which should sort the issue with the box mode not working, and also adds a few more hooks to place your code (header, footer and homepage).

Alain, I’m not sure why you would get that error, unless there’s a conflict with another module?

I found the solution for the problem. I added div class=”addsutuff_block block” to the mystuff.html page.

    Now all works fine.

    Hi, again

I selected “yes” on ‘Display in standard box’ option but the standard prestashop box do not appears. I used mystuff.html as a test without. My Stuff appears without a box.

    Thanks

Two answers for the price of one!

The AddStuff module should work with any version from 1.0 onwards. There’s no way to directly use two duplicates at once, but some folks have created a clone of the module using a slightly different name for the second one. If you mainly want to just display linked graphics then the advertising module (also available on this site) is the better option for that.

The standard box code should work, although all that it really does is add an extra div around the code, so you need to use the original mystuff.html as a template. This could do with some improvement to make it a little clearer and easier to use.

Thanks for the kind words about the site too!

Can I install more than one Addstuff? How do it?

Display in standard box option does not work in PrestaShop 1.1. This is a bug?

AddStuff has been updated to v0.4

A little bug crept in there somehow preventing the “box” option from being turned off once on, but that’s fixed now!
